The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) - 118 min

The Hitman's Bodyguard is an American action comedy film directed by Patrick Hughes
Starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Salma Hayek & Élodie Yung.
Michael Bryce who called himself a "AAA rated protection agent" is assigned a job of protecting a Japanese millionaire and safely escort him to the airport. You know what happens next. Two years later, Bryce got another job to protect a contract killer and they had a history to share.
Jackson and Reynolds combo makes this lousy movie somehow a watchable one. This film has everything that an action movie demands, still it falls short. Salma Hayek plays the abusive lover of Jackson's character and once again exploited her as a sex material. Gary Oldman's villain role was grounded and he acts like a confused boy. Most of the jokes in the movie don't hit the mark, Some works eventhough it's inconsequential in the plot. Overall, it would have been a good buddy movie if the story was interesting like 'The Nice Guys'.

Rough Night (2017) - 100 min

Rough Night is an American comedy film directed by Lucia Aniello.
Starring Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer & Zoë Kravitz.
Jess is getting married and her old friends decide to go to Miami for a bachelorette bash. They hire a stripper for Jess and things go a little out of hand when they accidentally kill the stripper.
The only good thing that I felt about this bachelor party is Kate Mckinnon's performance. Her dialogue delivery, expressions actually rescues this movie from calling a disaster movie. Am not going to say anything about other characters. The director's intention was to make a female version of Hangover movie. Instead, he made a movie that forces you to laugh by showing irrelevant things. Overall, it's a depressing bachelor party and enter at your own risk.
Verdict: Mediocre

The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008) - 150 min

The Baader Meinhof Complex (German: Der Baader Meinhof Komplex) is a German film directed by Uli Edel.
Starring Moritz Bleibtreu, Martina Gedeck, Johanna Wokalek, Nadja Uhl & Stipe Erceg.
Based on a non-fictional book, it tells the story of a terrorist group called Red Army Faction. The story begins with a street riot scene where students were brutally beaten by authorities and the outcome was the origin of the RAF.
The running time of the movie is 150 minutes and spending that much time with this brutal terrorist group will be a tough job to encounter with. The killer expressions from Martina Gedeck who played the role of a confused journalist is the main attraction of this movie. The attitude of Moritz Bleibtreu towards the authority and his fellow members shows how much he was influenced by that character. Overall, it's better not to reveal more about this Red Army Faction and experience their style of activities.

Gifted (2017) - 100 min

Gifted is an American drama film directed by Marc Webb.
Starring Chris Evans, Mckenna Grace, Lindsay Duncan, Jenny Slate & Octavia Spencer.
Mary is a gifted child with a strong ability of solving mathematical problems. Now, she lives with her uncle Frank, who wants to raise Mary like a normal child. But, their normal life took a drastic turn when Mary's grandmother files a case against Frank.
A feel good movie without any surprises. The conversations between Frank and Mary will engage you in the story. Like Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans is also wasting his career on doing Marvel's movies. A fine actor like Chris should do some serious movies like this and rethink his decision of doing sequels of Marvel's movies. With a fine guidance from Marc Webb, the one who actually captivates each scene is Mckenna Grace with her strong personality. Overall, there is nothing new to offer when it comes to the story, interestingly it fits the genre and I loved it.

The Wall (2017) - 81 min

The Wall is an American war film directed by Doug Liman.
Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, John Cena & Laith Nakli.
Two American soldiers spent their last 20 hours on a particular section of oil pipeline where a pro sniper kills some civilians and they think he is still out there. One of the soldier decides to investigate the place and is shot down by the sniper.
A cat and mouse game between a sniper and soldier. Both sniper and soldier are desperate to find out the opponents hiding place which makes this drama movie somehow interesting. John Cena plays the role of bait and it can be easily categorized as a cameo performance from him. Taylor Johnson is the one who shines in the movie with his elemental performance of an ordinary soldier. Overall, it's a watchable war movie and don't expect a typical war action movie from Doug Liman.
