Spellbound (2011) - 115 min

Spellbound (Korean: Ossakhan Yeonae) is a South Korean horror romantic film directed by Hwang In-ho.
Starring Son Ye-jin, Lee Min-ki, Park Chul-min & Kim Hyun-sook.
Jo-goo, a struggling street magician, encounters a mysterious girl devoid of smiles and becomes intrigued by her enigmatic aura, leading him to embark on a journey to transform her into a ghostly spectacle for his magic performances.
It's a well-executed romantic comedy with a touch of unexpected creepiness. Son Ye-jin and Lee Min-ki deliver solid performances and share a believable chemistry, making their characters instantly endearing. While the plot may follow predictable beats, the film's charm lies in its ability to entertain despite its predictability. Overall, it's a delightful watch that balances humor, romance, and a hint of suspense, offering an enjoyable viewing experience for fans of the genre.

Assassination (2015) - 140 min

Assassination (Korean: Amsal) is a South Korean spy action film directed by Choi Dong-hoon.
Starring Jun Ji-hyun, Lee Jung-jae, Ha Jung-woo, Oh Dal-su & Cho Jin-woong.
Set against the backdrop of the Japanese occupation of Korea in the 1930s, the narrative unfolds across Seoul and Shanghai as Yeom, an agent of the Korean provisional government, is tasked with forming a trio of assassins. Their objective: to eliminate the leader of the Japanese occupiers and further the cause of freedom by targeting a wealthy collaborator.
The action sequences significantly enhance the movie's appeal, particularly during the two assassination scenes, where Jun convincingly portrays a precision sniper and Ha Jung-Woo shines as the composed, charismatic anti-hero. Their on-screen chemistry is palpable and adds depth to the narrative. Lee Jung-Jae delivers a solid performance as the officer overseeing the hiring of the assassin trio, while Cho Jin-Woo and Choi Deok-Moon inject a touch of levity into their respective roles. SPL: Kill Zone (2005) - 90 min

SPL: Kill Zone (Hong Kong: SPL: Sha Po Lang) is a Hong Kong action film written and directed by Wilson Yip.
Starring Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, Simon Yam & Wu Jing.
With only three days until retirement, Inspector Chan intensifies his pursuit of gang boss Po, rallying his team in a race against time to apprehend the criminal. However, the arrival of Inspector Ma, poised to succeed Chan, complicates matters, leading to a deadly showdown as Po launches a ruthless campaign against the police force.
Donnie Yen delivers a standout performance, exuding charisma and skill with his killer looks and impeccable fighting abilities. The film's stylish presentation, seamlessly blending thriller elements with martial arts, is nothing short of astonishing. While it takes until the 50-minute mark to witness the full force of the violent martial arts sequences, the payoff is well worth the wait. The ending proves to be a mind-blowing conclusion, leaving audiences captivated and craving more.
