Assassination (2015) - 140 min

Assassination (Korean: Amsal) is a South Korean spy action film directed by Choi Dong-hoon.
Starring Jun Ji-hyun, Lee Jung-jae, Ha Jung-woo, Oh Dal-su & Cho Jin-woong.
Set against the backdrop of the Japanese occupation of Korea in the 1930s, the narrative unfolds across Seoul and Shanghai as Yeom, an agent of the Korean provisional government, is tasked with forming a trio of assassins. Their objective: to eliminate the leader of the Japanese occupiers and further the cause of freedom by targeting a wealthy collaborator.
The action sequences significantly enhance the movie's appeal, particularly during the two assassination scenes, where Jun convincingly portrays a precision sniper and Ha Jung-Woo shines as the composed, charismatic anti-hero. Their on-screen chemistry is palpable and adds depth to the narrative. Lee Jung-Jae delivers a solid performance as the officer overseeing the hiring of the assassin trio, while Cho Jin-Woo and Choi Deok-Moon inject a touch of levity into their respective roles. Overall, The Assassination is a tightly packed action thriller that keeps viewers engaged from start to finish, thanks to its compelling characters and gripping storyline.
Verdict: Good
