Premonition (2004) - 95 min

Premonition (Japanese: Yogen) is a Japanese horror film directed by Tsuruta Norio.
Starring Hiroshi Mikami, Noriko Sakai, Hana Inoue, Maki Horikita & Mayumi Ono.
Ayaka stops at a roadside phone booth, so that her husband Hideki can upload mail to his work, leaving her and their five-year-old daughter, Nana in the car. While in the phone booth, he finds a strange newspaper article in the phone cabin which is about a tragic accident that's going to happen in few minutes.
It's an entirely different approach to the horror genre and execution of the story was kind of interesting. Tsuruta's direction is stylish and creates a dark atmosphere throughout. The plot is based on a manga "Kyoufu Shinbun" ("Newspaper of Terror") by Jiro Tsunoda published in 1973. It doesn't really feel like a horror movie, even though there are some jump scary scenes. Overall, It’s a pretty creepy movie, which has a mind blowing climax sequences.
Verdict: Average
