Ezra is an Indian Malayalam horror film directed by Jay K.
Starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Priya Anand, Tovino Thomas, Sudev Nair, Vijayaraghavan, Babu Antony & Alencier Lopez.
Rajan and Priya, a newly married couple shifts their base to Kochi. Rajan decides to buy a villa and the house renovation works were handled by Priya. In the mean process, she buys an antique which turns their life upside down.
Performance wise, Both Prithivi and Priya did a brilliant job in this film. Tovino's character was grounded and somehow he manages to show his acting skills. The sound effects plays a vital role in this film and the three songs that shown in the film was actually needed at that point of time. It's a Hollywood style of film making and thanks to cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev who captures each frame superbly.
The film has a good story and there are some jump scare moments. Also, suspense and revelation parts were nicely handled by the director. Ezra actually breaks all the previous equations of Malayalam horror category and the introduction of dybbuk and how it plays out was quite impressive. Overall, this is the first Malayalam film that can actually compete with foreign horror films.
Verdict: Good
