The Great Father (2017) - 150 min

The Great Father is an Indian Malayalam film directed by Haneef Adeni.
Starring Mammooty, Arya, Sneha, Shaam, Anikha, I.M Vijayan & Miya George.
David Ninan is a builder who leads a wonderful life with his wife and daughter. Due to an unfortunate incident, Their peaceful life takes a drastic turn and How they recover from it makes the movie drives forward.
Mammoka owns each scene with his spectacular acting in emotional scenes and also mass scenes. Haneef Adeni handles the story superbly and one scene actually scares the hell out of me. The first half of the movie was very good and the second half started slowly, kind of dragging too. The pace was regained after that and the ending was also convincing even though there were some loopholes. Arya was good and it would have been a better one for him if he dubs for himself. Sneha has nothing much to offer in the movie. The background score used for Arya and Mammoka's intro was likeable and my favorite one is Arya's background score. Overall, it's a stunning action thriller movie and I really enjoyed it.

Body Double (1984) - 114 min

Body Double is an American erotic thriller film directed by Brian De Palma.
Starring Craig Wasson, Gregg Henry, Melanie Griffith & Deborah Shelton.
Jake is a struggling actor who is looking for a place to stay and meets another actor, Sam in a bar. Sam forces Jake to stay at a luxurious home in the hills and What's interesting is the beautiful neighbor of the house has a hobby to dance topless at night.
It's an erotic thriller from De Palma and his signature mark was also evident in this movie. The visuals were very good and story line thrills you until it finishes. It's an 'R' rated movie with a lot of nude scenes in it. Even though it's not the best movie from De Palma, I loved it.
Verdict: Good

Bon Cop Bad Cop (2006) - 116 min

Bon Cop, Bad Cop is a Canadian buddy cop film directed by Eric Canuel.

The film opens with a murder scene and the body was found in the border between Ontario and Quebec. Due to jurisdiction problems Toronto cop Martin Ward and Montreal cop David Broussard were forced to work together till they solve it.
It's an action oriented movie with some elements of humor and easily called as the Canadian version of 'Lethal Weapon'. The most enjoyable thing in the movie is the arguing between Bouchard and Ward on everything they encounter. Colm Feore and Patrick Huard's chemistry really work out. Overall, it's a full on entertainer and fully satisfies as a good buddy cop movie.

Director's Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi makes the movie more political than an apocalyptic event. Anno's screenplay also shows the loopholes of the Japanese government to follow protocol even when an unimaginable event has occurred. The film's score by Shiro Sagisu was very impressive. Overall, it's a watchable monster movie and enjoyable if you are not expecting much from it.

True Romance (1993) - 120 min

True Romance is an American crime film directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino.

Clarence, a loner fall in love with a call girl named Alabama. Later, they get married and Alabama told Clarence about her pimp. Next day, Clarence decides to meet Alabama's pimp and What happens in that meeting makes the movie interesting.
It's a love story that told in a different way. The movie was written by Quentin Tarantino and his partnership with the director, Tony Scott actually works out. The story by Tarantino was fascinating and Scott makes it a fast paced movie with witty dialogues and sometimes bullets tells the rest. Overall, it's a romantic thriller that actually works as a crime thriller movie.

Jackie Brown (1997) - 154 min

Jackie Brown is an American crime thriller film directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Jackie Brown is a flight attendant who smuggles money for a guy named Ordell. Unfortunately, One day police caught her with cash and cocaine. She makes a deal with police to bring down Ordell and at the same she has something else on her mind.
One of the underrated movie of Tarantino and it's not a typical Tarantino violence movie. The film is adapted from a novel Rum Punch and it has everything a masterpiece needs. The performances from Pan Grier and Samuel L. Jackson was top notch. Robert De Niro has nothing much to do in this film apart from some nodes. Overall, it's an entirely different approach from Tarantino and worth a shot.

Revanche (2008) - 120 min

Country: Austria
Director: Götz Spielmann
Cast: Johannes Krisch, Irina Potapenko, Ursula Strauss & Hanno Pöschl.
Both Alex and Tamara work in a Vienna brothel, while they carry on a secret relationship. To improve their life and pay off Tamara's debts, Alex decides to rob a bank and things get out of control when a policeman shows up on his getaway.
It's a drama movie that creates tensions and the revenge story was told in a different suspenseful way. More than a revenge story, it actually deals with humans emotional behavior and how they approach to a serious situation. The story is unpredictable and most of the things that happened in it looks real to me. Overall, I like this movie and To be frank, it's not everyone's cup of tea.

The Great Wall (2016) - 102 min

The Great Wall is an American film directed by Zhang Yimou.
Starring Matt Damon, Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe & Andy Lau.
Two mercenaries William and Tovar are looking for a mysterious item known as 'Black Powder'. Unfortunately, they were captured by the army of the Great Wall for trespassing. The weird thing about the Great Wall is that every 60 years, the wall is attacked by some monsters known as Tao Tei.
The opening scenes and fight sequences were the best thing about the movie. The story was not very impressive and the only thing that keeps it alive is the action scenes. Like, Jason Bourne 2016 movie this one also has nothing much to offer Matt Damon in the acting department apart from some stunts. The monsters logic of attacking and the cinematography were really good to see. Overall, Yimou manages to deliver a watchable action fantasy movie.

Mads Mikkelsen who is known for The Hunt and Pusher series is the main attraction of this thriller movie. There are many movies which have the exact same story of a suspect who is on the run to prove his innocence. Like those movies, It has the ingredients to keep you on the edge of the seat. Overall, it's a face paced movie with a constant flow of incidents makes it interesting and worth a shot.

It's a movie that plays with your mind and force you to keep guessing throughout the movie. Ching Wan Lau plays the weird Bun character and brings all the emotions that the character demands. The concept of the movie was very simple and a thorough characterizations helps to an ending that is definitely worth the wait. Next day, Tom goes back to the same house in order to return the keys and finds out that someone uses him to erase the evidence.
The film started out extremely well and while hearing the opening background scores, I thought it would be a nice thriller movie. Unfortunately, the pace was lost towards the end and the revelation part wasn't all that surprising. Overall, it's a one time watchable movie and Samuel L Jackson's performance is enough to watch this thriller movie.

The Zero Hour (2010) - 100 min

The Zero Hour (Spanish: La hora cero) is a Venezuelan action film directed by Diego Velasco
Starring Zapata 666, Amanda Key, Erich Wildpret, Laureano Olivares, Marisa Román & Albi De Abreu.
The story takes place during a medical strike when doctors hesitated to look at the patients. This film tells the story of a Hitman, La Parca who is forced to create a hostage situation in a hospital to save his girlfriend.
This film reminds me of Denzel's John Q and Hostage situation looks like Dog Day Afternoon. Violence  is common in Caracas and during the filming, three crew members were kidnapped. Diego, the director of the film was held up at gun point and a supporting actor was assassinated. Anyway, all this issue helps the movie in a positive way and it breaks all previous Venezuelan box office records. Overall, it's a watchable movie and only recommended to those who can handle violence scenes.

Kong: Skull Island (2017) - 120 min

Kong: Skull Island is an American monster film directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts.
Starring Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Jing Tian, Toby Kebbell & John Ortiz.
With the help of soldiers, a group of scientists goes on a mission to visit an Island in Southeast Asia. After reaching the Island they start to drop bombs, until someone shows up to fight.
This is the second film in the series of monster movies that starts with Godzilla 2014 which is far better than this movie. The failed attempt of character development was the main problem that faces the whole story. The technical team did an excellent job and the actors are all talented.  Now comes the King Kong factor which is the only thing that is worth watchable. The intro action scenes and the ending scenes were outstanding. The night scenes look ridiculous in 3D.
The Academy award winner Brie Larson is assigned to take pictures in the movie and apart from one stunt scene there is nothing much to do for her. The only reason why she signed this movie is the popularity of King Kong movies, Other than that, I don't know why she acts in this movie. Samuel L Jackson's eye to eye contact with King Kong was unbearable to watch. Overall, it's watchable only because of King Kong and that's the only thing that keeps the movie alive.

Koblic (2016) - 97 min

Captain Tomas Koblic is a Navy pilot who runs away from an air force before his retirement. Now, With the help of a friend Koblic hides in a small town. The sheriff of that town was not very fond of Koblic and starts to investigate about his past.
The script looks interesting, but it takes time to establish the main reason behind all this. Darin is one of the finest actors of the Argentine film industry who can handle any type of roles and Koblic's character was safe in his hands. The casting plays a key role in the movie and on the technical side, it has an efficient art direction. Overall, it's a well crafted thriller drama and I really enjoyed it.

Basically, This ad has appeared in a real newspaper and it was featured on Jay Leno's The Tonight Show. The only question that drives the movie is whether the time machine news is real or not?.  If you are searching for a science fiction movie kind of stuffs, You are looking at the wrong place. Headshot (2016) - 118 min

Headshot is an Indonesian martial arts action film directed by Kimo Stamboel.

One day, some criminal kidnaps Ailin and Without much choice left Ishmael work his way to find the one who behind all this activity.
Iko Uwais who is known for 'The Raid' and 'The Raid: Redemption' is back again with another spectacular action movie. There are so many violent scenes and the action is fast and heavy like Raid movies. Like all Indonesian action flicks, this one will also give you the same vibes. The plot is not very interesting and the only thing that really matters here is the action and adrenaline rush. The one-on-one fight sequences were my favorite scenes. Overall, if you're a fan of martial arts-action movies, just go for it.

It's an action packed thriller movie that has all the ingredients to satisfy action movie lovers. The Largo's character looks more realistic and sharp when compared with other one man show movie characters. German star Tomer Sisley portraits the role of Largo. This film uses multiple languages like English, French and sometimes Croatian. The film is filled with spectacular stunts and some breathtaking chase scenes which makes it a watchable movie. Still, I recommend this movie and somehow it manages to satisfy my expectations.

The songs were mesmerizing and the plot was fascinating. To be frank, Each tiny thing in this film impressed me. It will not bore you in any manner and it's a full on energetic movie. Lijo, the director has some fine long shots and the last 11 minutes long climax was shot in a single take. It was one of the breathtaking moments of the film. The performance looks realistic and the cinematography makes it's more beautiful. Overall, it is easy to say that this is the best movie of 2017 that I have seen in theatres and it's a must watch.

The film tells the four day love story of World-traveling National Geographic photographer Robert Kincaid and Francesca Johnson. When the daughter and son of the late Francesca Johnson return home for the funeral arrangements. They find out Francesca's diary that contains all the secrets.
Another spectacular movie from Clint Eastwood. The scenes between Francesca and Robert were built slowly and the effect was very intense. Streep gets the center of attraction in the whole movie. Richard's screenplay has a slight modification of Streep character and make it a strong personality. Overall, it's a beautiful romantic movie, which is going to remain as a special one for a long time.
Verdict: Good
