Three... Extremes (aka Saam gaang yi) is an Asian horror film consisting of three short films by three Asian directors and a sequel to 3 Extremes II (2002).
1) Dumplings
Dumplings is directed by Fruit Chan from Hong Kong. Mrs. Li, a retired actress is searching for a remedy to regain her beauty in order to get her husband's attention. After getting a lot of feedback from others, She finally meets the mysterious Aunt Mei whose dumplings are made of something else.
2) Cut
Cut is directed by Park Chan-Wook from Korea. A famous director and his wife have to play a dangerous game to survive. They were held hostage by a mentally unstable guy who instructed him to do an unpleasant job.
3) Box
Box is directed by Miike Takashi from Japan. Kyoko is a young novelist, the memories of her twin sister still haunts her and She always wanted to apologize to her sister. Back in the old days, they worked in a circus and an unfortunate incident separates them.
Out of the three, Cut was my favorite one and usually the best one is kept for the last, Not this time. The director of 'Cut' is Chan-wook Park who is known for JSA and Oldboy executed the story beautifully with a streak of cinematic perfection. Visually, 'Box' is more compelling than the other two and Dumplings is hard to digest to any audience. Overall, Like the first part this film also lives up to the expectations with the strong female performances.
Verdict: Good
