Sahsiyet (2018) - TV series

Sahsiyet is a Turkish Crime miniseries directed by Onur Saylak.
Starring  Haluk Bilginer, Cansu Dere, Metin Akdülger & Hüseyin Avni Danyal.
Season: 1
No. of episodes: 12
Running time: 60–70 minutes
Agah Beyoglu learns from his doctor that he has Alzheimer's disease and decides to start his killing spiral which he intends to commit for a long time. It's only a matter of time before he forgets himself.
I couldn't resist watching this mini-series after hearing the plot and its a deadly combination to encounter with. I enjoyed every step Agah takes and sometimes he is smarter than normal people. Haluk Bilginer's dialogue delivery was right on the money, especially when he doesn't have any clue why he stands in some places. There are few scenes stretched a little bit than the usual, Still, the character Agah helps you to forget all that & move on with the story. Overall, if you are a fan of crime series then this Turkish mini-series will keep you in the game.

Varathan (2018) - 130 min

Varathan is a Malayalam-language, thriller film directed by Amal Neerad.
Starring Fahadh Faasil, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sharaf U Dheen & Dileesh Pothan.
The story starts with Abin losing his job and decides to relocate to his wife's native village. To the villagers, Abin is an outsider and they treat him like an outsider.
The unofficial remake of the movie Straw dogs(1971). Amal Neerad opts a prismatic narrative style and the outcome is even tiny colors looks bright. The plot is easily predictable if you have seen straw dogs, still, the final showdown looks far better than the original version. The screenplay by Suhas-Sharfu tries their best to make a few changes to the plot rather than rip off scene by scene. Like any Amal Neerad's movie, this film also contains slow-motions that stick to the story and sometimes you don't feel the difference between normal and slow-motion scenes.  After Chaappa Kurishu, this is the second time I like Fahadh's attitude more than his performance and is complemented by Aishwarya Lekshmi. Sharaf U Dheen intro is simple yet powerful one and Sushin Shyam's bgm creates the dark side of villagers. Overall, Varathan is rich in every department and personally, I like this movie more than it's original version.

The Best Offer (2013) - 125 min

The Best Offer is an Italian mystery thriller directed by Giuseppe Tornatore.
Starring Geoffrey Rush, Jim Sturgess, Sylvia Hoeks & Donald Sutherland.
Virgil Oldman is an auctioneer who buys overlooked treasures with the help of his friend Whistler. Claire, a mysterious heiress calls Virgil to evaluate her furniture and paintings before going to auction off.
'There's always something authentic concealed in every forgery'
The Best Offer aka La migliore offerta is an English language Italian film that tells a simple story about art. The acting propels the narrative and maintains full focus on Virgil Oldman's character. Geoffrey Rush shines as Virgil Oldman like he did it in 'The King's Speech'. The transformation from arrogant nature to ending nature is more interesting than the waiting game for the big revelation. The Best Offer feels like a slow-paced movie with beautiful sound design, still, it's an impressive movie from Guiseppe Tornatore. Overall, if you like slow paced mystery movies then you can try this one.
Verdict: Good
