വെള്ളമില്ല, ടെലിഫോൺ സിഗ്നലുകൾ കുറയുന്നു, മാപ്പുകളിൽ നിന്നും തങ്ങളുടെ ചെറിയ നഗരം അപ്രത്യക്ഷമാവുന്നതായി അവർക്ക് സംശയം തോന്നുന്നു. അവിടെയുള്ള ആളുകളെ ആരോ വകവരുത്തുന്നു. ഇതാണ് ആ ചെറിയ ഗ്രാമത്തിലെ അവസ്ഥ. എന്തെങ്കിലും പ്രശ്നം വന്നാൽ അവർ ഒരാളുടെ സഹായം തേടും, ലുംഗ.
2019ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ വിചിത്രമായ ബ്രസീലിയൻ വെസ്റ്റേൺ ചിത്രമാണ് ഇത്. വിചിത്രം എന്നൊക്കെ പറയുമ്പോൾ വയസ്സായ ഒരു വ്യക്തി നഗ്നനായി വീടിന്റെ പുറത്തൂടെ പാട്ടും പാടി നടക്കുന്ന സീൻസ് കണ്ടാൽ പിന്നെ വേറെ എന്താ പറയണ്ടേ. ആദ്യം മുതൽ അവസാനം വരെ രോഷമാണ് അവിടെയുള്ള ആളുകളുടെ മുഖത്ത്, സർക്കാർ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരോടുള്ള അവരുടെ ദേഷ്യം പല രംഗങ്ങളിലും പ്രകടമാണ്. വിചിത്രമായ ചില രംഗങ്ങൾ ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ഈ സിനിമ കാണുമ്പോൾ അതൊന്നു ഓർക്കുന്നത് നല്ലതാണ്. വ്യത്യസ്ത സിനിമകൾ കാണാൻ താല്പര്യമുള്ളവർ തീർച്ചയായും കണ്ട് നോക്കാവുന്ന ചിത്രമാണ് Bacurau.

എറികയും അവളുടെ കൂട്ടുകാരിയായ ലാറയും ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഓരോ നിമിഷവും ആസ്വദിച്ച് ജീവിക്കുന്നവരാണ്. എറിക ആദ്യമായി നന്ദോനെ കാണുന്നത് ഒരു പാർട്ടിക്കിടയിൽ വച്ചാണ്. ആദ്യ കണ്ടുമുട്ടൽ ഇരുവർക്കും മറക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്ത ചില നിമിഷങ്ങൾ സമ്മാനിക്കുന്നു.
പ്രണയം, സൗഹൃദം, നഷ്ടം, യാത്ര, സന്തോഷം, സംഗീതം എല്ലാം അടങ്ങുന്ന ഒരു ബ്രസീലിയൻ ചിത്രമാണ് Artificial Paradises. മയക്കുമരുന്നിന്റെ ഹാങ്ങോവറിൽ വസ്ത്രം പോലുമില്ലാതെ അങ്ങോട്ടുമിങ്ങോട്ടും ഓടിനടക്കുന്ന നായികയും, അവളുടെ ഏത് ആഗ്രഹവും നിറവേറ്റി കൊടുക്കാൻ നടക്കുന്ന സുഹൃത്തും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ പിന്നത്തെ കാര്യം പറയണ്ടല്ലോ. സിനിമയുടെ ക്ലൈമാക്സ് വിചാരിച്ചതുപോലെ അല്ലെന്നുള്ളതും ഒരു പോസിറ്റീവ് കാര്യമായി തോന്നി. നായകനും നായികയും കണ്ടുമുട്ടുന്ന മൂന്നു വർഷങ്ങളിലാണ് കഥ നടക്കുന്നത്. നമ്മൾ കണ്ടു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന സീൻ നാല് വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷം സംഭവിക്കുന്നതായിരിക്കും, അത് കഴിഞ്ഞു വരുന്ന സീൻ ചിലപ്പോൾ ആറു വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുമ്പുള്ളതായിരിക്കും. എന്തൊക്കെ മാറിമറിഞ്ഞ വന്നാലും പ്രണയവും സൗഹൃദവും ഭംഗിയായി തന്നെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Trash (2014) - 114 min

Raphael and his friends spend their time working in the trash. One day they find a wallet that can tear down the political corrupt system and within no time police shows up looking for it. They offer a reward to the one who finds out the wallet and Raphael decides to do something else.
'Do you like roller coasters?' The charm of the three boys makes this urban thriller looks more interesting from the moment it kicks off. It is based on a novel and you can call it a Brazilian Slumdog Millionaire. The dumpster boys deliver a dynamic performance and the cool hip hop tracks work perfectly when it plays in the movie. Trash is fully set in Portuguese and few accomplished actors play extended cameos in the movie. Overall, As a viewer it meets my expectations and I really enjoyed watching this thriller movie.

A Wolf at the Door (2013) - 100 min

Sylvia arrives at school to pick up her daughter and discovers that her daughter has been picked up by an unknown woman. Police start questioning Slyvia and her husband Bernardo. Bernardo confesses about his secret affair with Rosa and he thinks, she might be the one behind this kidnapping.
You can call this movie a darker version of Prisoners Hollywood movie. Most of the intense scenes were long take shot and the kidnapping scene was the best of it. Fernando Coimbra nicely executed the triangle love story and covers all the bases of terrible relationships. The movie really belongs to Leandra Leal, the way she transforms her character is extremely impressive, I would say. Overall, it's a disturbing tale of obsession with some stunning scenes that can make a strong impact on the viewer.

Elite Squad (2007) - 115 min

Elite Squad (Portuguese: Tropa de Elite) is a Brazilian crime film directed by José Padilha.
Starring Wagner Moura, Caio Junqueira, André Ramiro & Maria Ribeiro.
It is based on a special tactical force called BOPE. Captain Nascimento is planning to leave the force and he is looking for a replacement to pass on the baton of command. Two police officers Neto Gouveia and AndréMatias decide to join BOPE due to their superiors systemic corruption.
The script of the movie was co-written by Rodrigo, a former BOPE officer. The shootout scenes were very loud and somehow it resembles the movie 'City of God'. The performance was all good and the only drawback I felt about the movie is its camera work. Overall, it's an engaging film that shows some real issues and worth your time.
