The Past (French: Le Passé) is an Iranian drama film directed by Asghar Farhadi.

After a four year separation, Ahmad returns to Paris from Tehran to finalize divorce from his French wife Marie. Marie has two daughters from her first marriage and now she is planning to get married for a third time. Ahmad stays in Marie's house and discovers her elder daughter Lucie is against to the marriage. Lucie is very good towards Ahmad and Marie expects Ahmad to talk to her in order to cool things.
Farhadi films have the ability to express the true nature of the common people and how they survive in a difficult situation. The way Farhadi tells the story makes it more interesting than it looks like. The casting of the film is also impressive and also director makes sure that small roles also make an impact on the story. Overall, The film has some unpredictable twists without any excessive dialogues and it's a beautiful movie to watch.
