Under the Salt is a Mexican thriller film directed by Mario Muñoz.
Starring Humberto Zurita, Emilio Guerrero, Ricardo Polanco, Plutarco Haza, Irene Azuela & Moises Arizmendi.
The film opens with the discovery of a decomposed body of a young girl on a salt mine and it's not the first one. Similar disappearance and murder cases were handled by local sheriff Salazar and the killer is only targeting young girls. A series of similar murders leads Commander Trujillo to start an investigation and finds out the serial killer behind all this.
It's a straight forward movie with some fine acting and also has a number of beautiful shots. The soundtrack used for the film was very impressive and unimaginative script makes it less tense throughout the movie. The investigation scenes were the only thing that drives the movie and one of the drawback was it's ending, too easy to predict. Overall, The film takes time to build up the storyline and its a one time watchable for murder-mystery movie fans.
Verdict: Average
