The Border Post (2006) - 90 min

Country: Croatia
Director: Rajko Grlić
Cast: Toni Gojanović, Sergej Trifunović, Emir Hadžihafizbegović, Verica Nedeska & Bogdan Diklić.
Lieutenant Pasic has a medical condition and he shares his problem with a medical student Sinisa. To cure the disease he needs three weeks and Pasic is ashamed of seeing his wife with this condition, so he send Sinisa to watch out her.
It's a political film about a war which never happened in the history and the story is adapted from a novel by the Croatian journalist Ante Tomic. The tiny little things from each corner of the story guides the viewer into the final showdown. The final scenes were very tempting and it has everything a war movie never wants. Critically everybody praises the movie and the collaboration of ex-Yugoslav countries make it more popular all over the world. Overall, if you are looking for a military oriented black comedy, try 'The Border Post' for a change.

Aruvi (2016) - 130 min

Aruvi is a Tamil socio-political drama film directed by Arun Prabu Purushothaman.
Starring Aditi Balan, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Anjali Varadhan, Mohammad Ali Baig & Kavitha Bharathi.
Aruvi's childhood was wonderful and as she moves into adulthood, trouble starts. One day, a medical problem captures her and the condition force Aruvi's family to throw her out of the home.
A refreshing movie that asks many questions to the audience through humor and satire style. The only familiar face in the movie was Lakshmi Gopalaswamy. But, Aditi Balan who portrayed various turbulences of Aruvi's character was fascinating from the moment she appears on the screen. Surprisingly, Arun makes a movie that was so balanced in every aspect of the core and infusing black humor in the story was one of smartest move Arun did with the plot. Overall, it's an intense tale which shows unpredictable things and really loved it.

Jigsaw (2017) - 90 min

Jigsaw is an American horror film directed by Michael and Peter Spierig. Jigsaw is the eighth installment in the Saw franchise.
Starring Tobin Bell, Matt Passmore, Callum Keith Rennie, Clé Bennett & Hannah Emily Anderson.
It's been a while since John Kramer died and his game of life & death is still on. This time five people are being held in a factory and few detectives investigates the case to find out the mastermind behind this game.
From the directors of the movie Predestination, you did expect something new right and what happens when they make a rubbish movie like jigsaw. The best thing to do is move on with your life. Neither the characters nor the story keeps you interested in the so called life & death game. Like any other Saw films the third act of the film is filled with twist and revelations. After the big reveals, I wish I could ask this question to directors "Is That All You Got". Overall, If you are a true follower or a die hard fan of saw franchise, you can try this one.

4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007) - 108 min

Country: Romania
Director: Cristian Mungiu
Cast: Adi Cărăuleanu, Luminița Gheorghiu, Mădălina Ghițescu, Vlad Ivanov, Anamaria Marinca, Alexandru Potocean & Laura Vasiliu.
In 1966, a law was passed banning abortion in Romania. The story took place in 1987, Roommates Gabita and Otilia is planning to meet a man named Bebe to obtain an illegal abortion. If they get caught during the procedure, the outcome will be 12 years in prison.
It won the Palm D'Or at the 2007 Cannes film festival and due to the subject it made controversy at the time of nomination for the Oscar category. One of the specialties of the movie is the camera remains steady in most of the time and the characters move in and out of the frame which is cool to watch. Cristian Mungiu crafted a movie that literally breaks your heart when you saw a particular scene towards the final act. Overall, it's an occasionally thrilling movie that tells the story of an illegal abortion attempt and sometimes drama can be effective.

A Ghost Story (2017) - 92 min

A Ghost Story is an American supernatural drama film directed by David Lowery.
Starring Casey Affleck, Rooney Mara, Will Oldham & Rob Zabrecky.
C is a music producer who lives with M in Texas. They hear weird sounds in nights and M is not interested to stay in that home. Shortly after that, C dies in a car accident in front of the house or does he?
A thought provoking, emotional story from David Lowery through a ghost's eye view. The combination of long takes with sorrowful music is always painful to encounter. It is presented in 4:3 aspect ratio and it doesn't have much conversation at all. Affleck and Mara share a little time on the screen and the thing that haunts you the whole movie will be the sense of loss. Life after death is a fantasy that everyone wish to experience once and I like the concept of the movie. Overall, If you are looking for an out of the box kind of stuff, then A ghost story is the right one to watch.
