The Robber (German: Der Räuber) is a drama film directed by Benjamin Heisenberg.
Starring Andreas Lust, Johann Bednar, Gerda Drabek, Max Edelbacher & Walter Huber.
Johann Rettenberger a marathon runner is being released from prison, where he has been serving a sentence for robbing banks. While training for marathon races he starts his criminal activities like stealing cars and robbing banks. He is very good in running and also wins some marathon races, though the victories bring him no apparent satisfaction.
It's still a mystery why is he doing this robberies. Anyway, The robberies provide him an adrenaline rush similar to that he experiences while running marathons. The director makes it interesting in the first few places and in the end, it all goes in vain. Overall, it's a one time watchable flick and the robbery scenes were very good with some outstanding jazz.
Verdict: Mediocre
