Chala, a schoolboy who raises pigeons and fight dogs for a living. His mother is an alcoholic and drug addicted, without a proper guidance Chala always end up in fights with other kids. The local social workers and school management decide to send Chala back to re-education school. Carmela, a respected teacher decides to fight against them and make sure Chala doesn't go to re-education school.
The film is extremely engaging and it's not about the Cuban educational system. The Child actors were outstanding and Daranas screenplay mainly focused on the daily lifestyle of Cuban peoples. The plot is simple and the relationship between Carmela and Chala makes it wonderful. Overall, it's a beautiful movie and shows how social and economic issues affect a child's life.
Verdict: Good
