The Siege of Jadotville (2016) - 108 min

The Siege of Jadotville is a historical drama war film directed by Richie Smyth.
Starring Jamie Dornan, Mark Strong, Mikael Persbrandt, Jason O'Mara, Danny Sapani, Michael McElhatton & Guillaume Canet.
Commandant Pat Quinlan, an Irish soldier with no battle experience is selected to lead a UN peacekeeping mission in the Congo. He thought it would be a simple mission and they built their camp in an open place and it's easy for enemies to attack from every side, unfortunately they were attacked by the French, Belgian and Katangese troops. They held out for six days without losing a single man, killing 300 and wounding 1,000.
The film is based on actual events and the main intention of the movie was to pay due respect to the Irish soldiers those who participate in the battle. Dornan's performance and attacking sequences were my favorite things about the film. Visually, the battle scenes were impressive, especially the setups and cinematographer Nikolaus did a fine job in capturing all of it. Overall, it's a watchable movie with some fine actions.
Verdict: Average
