Bohumil Hrabalയുടെ 1965ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ നോവലിനെ ആസ്പദമാക്കിയുള്ള ചലച്ചിത്രാവിഷ്കാരമാണ് ക്ലോസ്ലി വാച്ച്ഡ് ട്രെയിന്‍സ്. തന്റെ ചുറ്റും നടക്കുന്നത് എന്താണെന്നുപോലും മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കാത്ത ഒരു സാധുവാണ് നമ്മുടെ നായകൻ. ചെയ്യാൻ പാടില്ലാത്ത കാര്യങ്ങൾ അവനെക്കൊണ്ട് ചെയ്യിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് ചിലരുടെ വാക്കുകളാണ് അതുമല്ലെങ്കിൽ മറ്റുപല കാരണങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ടാകാം. സിനിമയിലെ ഒഴിച്ചുകൂടാൻ കഴിയാത്ത രണ്ട് ഘടകങ്ങളാണ് ലൈംഗികതയും രാഷ്ട്രീയ വിമോചനവും. ഇവ രണ്ടും മാറി മാറി സംവിധായകൻ പല സന്ദർഭങ്ങളിലും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. മികച്ച വിദേശ സിനിമയ്ക്കുള്ള ഓസ്കാർ ലഭിച്ച ചിത്രം കൂടെയാണ് 1966ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ക്ലോസ്ലി വാച്ച്ഡ് ട്രെയിന്‍സ്.

കോളേജ് വിദ്യാർഥിനിയായ ഡാനി ഇപ്പോൾ കടന്നുപോകുന്നത് ഒരു വിഷമഘട്ടത്തിലൂടെയാണ്. ഏത് നിമിഷം വേണമെങ്കിലും മാനസികമായി തളർന്നു പോകാവുന്ന ഡാനിക്ക് തണലായി നിൽക്കുന്നത് കാമുകനായ ക്രിസ്റ്റിനാണ്. ക്രിസ്റ്റിനും കൂട്ടുകാരും പഠിത്തത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി ഒരു യാത്ര പോകാൻ തയ്യാറെടുക്കുകയാണ്, ആ യാത്രയിലേക്ക് ക്രിസ്റ്റീൻ അവളെയും ക്ഷണിക്കുന്നതോടെ കഥയുടെ ഗതി മാറുന്നു.
ദൃശ്യങ്ങളും അതിന് അനുയോജ്യമായ പാശ്ചാത്യ സംഗീതം കൊണ്ടും സമ്പന്നമാണ് ഈ സിനിമ. ആചാരങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു കലവറയെന്ന് വേണമെങ്കിൽ midsommarനെ വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാം. വർഷങ്ങളായി നമ്മൾ പിന്തുടരുന്ന ആചാരങ്ങളിൽ എന്തെങ്കിലും ഒരു ചെറിയ കോട്ടം സംഭവിച്ചാൽ അതിനോട് പ്രതികരിക്കുന്നത് പല വിധത്തിലായിരിക്കും നമ്മളെല്ലാവരും. വേറിട്ട വഴികളിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു സംവിധായകനാണ് അരി ആസ്റ്റർ. അദ്ദേഹം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന കഥകളും അങ്ങനെയുള്ളതായിരിക്കും. എന്നാലും പ്രേക്ഷകനെ ചിന്തിപ്പിക്കാനും അതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് കൂടുതൽ സംസാരിക്കാനും വഴിയൊരുക്കുന്നുണ്ട് ഓരോ ചിത്രവും. അദ്ദേഹം സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത ആദ്യ സിനിമയോടുള്ള എതിർപ്പ് നേരത്തെ പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ച വ്യക്തി എന്ന നിലയ്ക്ക് ഈ സിനിമ എനിക്ക് നല്ലൊരു അനുഭവമാണ് നൽകിയത്. ഞാൻ എന്താണോ ഈ സിനിമയിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചത് അത് അതിലും ഭംഗിയായി സംവിധായകന് നൽകുവാൻ സാധിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. Hereditary എന്നാ ആദ്യസിനിമയിലെ ഒരു രംഗം ഇന്നും മനസ്സിൽ നിലകൊള്ളുന്നുണ്ട് അതുപോലെ ഈ സിനിമയും ഇതിലെ രംഗങ്ങളും കുറച്ചുനാൾ തങ്ങി നിൽക്കാനാണ് സാധ്യത.

മെക്കാനിക്കായ റോയ് ഇപ്പോൾ ഒറ്റയ്ക്കാണ് താമസിക്കുന്നത്. ഒപ്പം ഒരാഴ്ച താമസിക്കുന്നതിനായി മകൾ വരുന്നതോടെ അയാളുടെ കാര്യങ്ങൾ അവതാളത്തിൽ ആവുകയാണ്. റോയ്ക്ക് കാറുകളോട് ഒരു പ്രത്യേകതരം ഇഷ്ടമാണ്. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ TT എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന വില്ലൻ റോയിനെ ഒരു കാർ റേസിംഗിലേക്ക് വെല്ലുവിളിക്കുകയാണ്.
ഈ ചിത്രത്തെ വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് നോർവീജിയൻ ഫാസ്റ്റ് ആൻഡ് ഫ്യൂരിയസ് എന്നാണ്. ഒന്നാം ഭാഗം 2014ൽ ആണ് ഇറങ്ങിയത്. അതാത് സമയങ്ങളിൽ ചിരിപ്പിക്കാനും ത്രില്ലടിപ്പിക്കാനും ഈ സിനിമയ്ക്ക് കഴിയുന്നുണ്ട്. കൊല്ലും കൊലയും ഒന്നുമില്ലാതെ റിലാക്സ് ചെയ്ത് കാണാൻ കഴിയുന്ന ഒരു നല്ല സിനിമയാണ് Børning. ഒന്നാമത്തേത് പോലെ രസകരമായ മുഹൂർത്തങ്ങളിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന പ്രവണത രണ്ടാം ഭാഗത്തിലും കാണാൻ സാധിക്കും . Anders Baasmo Christiansen തന്നെയാ രണ്ട് സിനിമകളിലും നായകൻറെ കഥാപാത്രം കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 2020ൽ ഈ സിനിമയുടെ മൂന്നാമത്തെ ഭാഗം റിലീസ് ചെയ്യുമെന്ന് കേൾക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

കനേഡിയൻ സിറ്റിസനായ Chloé അഭയാർത്ഥി ക്യാമ്പുകളിൽ ഗർഭിണികളായ പാലസ്റ്റീൻ സ്ത്രീകളെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ച് വരുകയായിരുന്നു. അവൾ താമസിക്കുന്നത് Ava എന്ന കൂട്ടുകാരിയുടെ ഒപ്പം ജെറുസലേമിൽ ആണ്, Ava ഇസ്രായേലിൻറെ പ്രതിരോധ സേനയിൽ ജോലി നോക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തിയാണ്. ഇസ്രയേലും പാലസ്തീനും തമ്മിൽ സംഘർഷം വന്നപ്പോൾ എന്ത് ചെയ്യണം ആരോടൊപ്പം നിൽക്കണം എന്നൊന്നും മനസ്സിലാകാതെ നിൽക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്ന ഒരു അവസ്ഥയിലൂടെ Chloé കടന്നുപോകുന്നത്.
ഇസ്രയേൽ പാലസ്തീൻ സംഘർഷം ആസ്പദമാക്കിയുള്ള ചിത്രങ്ങൾ ഇതിനോടകം കുറേ ഇറങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതിൽ തന്നെ മനസ്സിൽ തങ്ങി നിൽക്കുന്ന രണ്ടു ചിത്രങ്ങളാണ് 2005ൽ ഇറങ്ങിയ പാരഡൈസ് നൌവും 2013ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ഒമർ എന്ന ചിത്രവും. പ്രത്യക്ഷത്തിൽ സംവിധായകൻ നമുക്ക് കാണിച്ചുതരുന്നത് അവിടെയുള്ള ജനങ്ങളുടെ കഷ്ടപ്പാടുകൾ തന്നെയാണ്. മനുഷ്യജീവന് അവർ നൽകുന്ന വില കണ്ടാൽ അതിശയിച്ചു പോകും, ഒരാളെ കൊല്ലുന്നത് പോലും അവിടെ നിസാര സംഭവമാണ്. കേന്ദ്രകഥാപാത്രമായ Chloé എന്ന കഥാപാത്രം കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തത് കനേഡിയൻ അഭിനേത്രിയായ Evelyne Brochu. പാരഡൈസ് നൌ ഒക്കെ ഇഷ്ടമായവർക്ക് ഈ സിനിമയും ഒന്ന് കണ്ട് നോക്കാവുന്നതാണ്. ഈ ചിത്രം നിങ്ങളെ നിരാശപ്പെടുത്തില്ലന്ന് വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

ഫുട്ബോൾ ആണ് മാനുവലിന്റെ ലോകം. വലുതാകുമ്പോൾ നല്ലൊരു ഗോൾകീപ്പർ ആയിത്തീരാൻ ആണ് അവന്റെ ആഗ്രഹം. അത്യാവശ്യം നന്നായി ചിത്രങ്ങളും വരയ്ക്കും, പഠിത്തത്തിൽ അല്പം പുറകോട്ടാണ് കക്ഷി. അച്ഛൻറെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നും പിറന്നാൾ സമ്മാനമായി ലഭിച്ച ഫുട്ബോളുമായി കൂട്ടുകാരോടൊപ്പം കളിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു മാനുവൽ. അബദ്ധവശാൽ പന്ത് തെറിച്ച മൈനുകൾ കുഴിച്ചിട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് ചെന്ന് ചാടി. പിന്നെ അങ്ങോട്ട് പന്ത് എടുക്കാനായി അവർ ചെയ്യുന്ന ശ്രമങ്ങൾ ആണ് നമുക്ക് കാണാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നത്.
IFFK യിൽ നിന്നും Golden Pheasant Award ലഭിച്ച ചിത്രമാണ് ദ കളേഴ്സ് ഓഫ് ദി മൗണ്ടൈൻ. കൊളംബിയും പനാമയും ചേർന്ന് നിർമ്മിച്ച ഈ ചിത്രം സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത് Carlos César Arbeláez ആണ്. കുട്ടികളുടെ മാത്രം കഥ പറയുന്ന ഒരു സിനിമയായി ഇതിനെ കണക്കാക്കാൻ കഴിയില്ല കാരണം സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടും ഇരുട്ടിൽ കഴിയേണ്ടി വരുന്ന ഒരു ഗ്രാമത്തിൻറെ അവസ്ഥയാണ് ഈ സിനിമയിലൂടെ വരച്ച് കാണിക്കുന്നത്. പുതിയതായി സ്കൂളിലെത്തിയ ടീച്ചറിൻറെ നിലപാടുകൾ വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്ന സന്ദർഭങ്ങൾ നന്നേ ബോധിച്ചു. ജനിച്ചുവളർന്ന മണ്ണിൽ നിൽക്കണമെങ്കിൽ ഗറില്ല പോരാളികളുടെ ഒപ്പം ചേരണം അതല്ലെങ്കിൽ എല്ലാം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് അവിടെ നിന്ന് പോകണം. ഇതിൽ നിന്നുമെല്ലാം മാറി ചിന്തിക്കുന്നവരെയും ആ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ നമുക്ക് കാണാൻ സാധിക്കും. മറക്കാനാകാത്ത നിമിഷങ്ങൾ സമ്മാനിക്കുന്നത് കൊച്ചു കുട്ടികൾ തന്നെയാണ്. അവർ ഓരോ പ്രാവശ്യവും പന്ത് എടുക്കാൻ പോകുന്ന രംഗങ്ങൾ മനസ്സിൽനിന്ന് അത്രപെട്ടെന്നൊന്നും മാഞ്ഞുപോകില്ല.

കഥ നടക്കുന്നത് രണ്ടാം ലോക മഹായുദ്ധ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ആണ്. രണ്ട് ബെലാറഷ്യൻ കുട്ടികൾ വിജനമായ മണൽ തീരങ്ങളിൽ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ട തോക്കിനായി തിരച്ചിലിലാണ്. തോക്ക് കണ്ടു പിടിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് ജർമ്മൻ പടക്കെതിരെ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന സോവിയറ്റ് യൂണിയന്റെ റെസിസ്റ്റൻസ് ഗ്രൂപ്പിൽ ഒരു അംഗമാകാൻ സാധിക്കും. നിർഭാഗ്യവശാൽ Flyoraക്ക് ഒരു തോക്ക് മണ്ണിൽനിന്നും കിട്ടുകയും അതിനുശേഷം ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന സംഭവവികാസങ്ങളുമാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രമേയം.
1978ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ "I Am from the Fiery Village" എന്ന ബുക്കിനെ ആസ്പദമാക്കി 1985ൽ റിലീസ് ചെയ്ത ദൃശ്യവിസ്മയമാണ് Come and See. ഈ ചിത്രത്തിലൂടെ നാസി പടയുടെ ക്രൂരമായ തമാശകളും മൃഗീയമായ മിലിറ്ററി ചട്ടങ്ങളും പച്ചയായി കാണിച്ചു തരുവാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നുണ്ട് Elem Klimov എന്ന സംവിധായകൻ. സിനിമയിൽ ഉടനീളം മുഴങ്ങി കേൾക്കുന്ന ശബ്ദങ്ങളിൽ ഏറ്റവും ഭയാനകം അവിടെയുള്ള ജനങ്ങളുടെ നിലവിളി ശബ്ദമാണ്. വളരെ റിയലിസ്റ്റിക്കായി ചിത്രീകരിച്ച ഈ സിനിമ നമ്മുക്ക് സമ്മാനിക്കുന്നത് ഒരിക്കലും മറക്കാനാകാത്ത ചില സന്ദർഭങ്ങളാണ്. മികച്ച അഭിനയ മുഹൂർത്തങ്ങൾ ഒന്നും തന്നെ മനസ്സിൽ തങ്ങി നൽകുന്നില്ലെങ്കിലും Aleksei Kravchenko, Flyora എന്ന കഥാപാത്രത്തെ മികച്ചതാക്കി. Flyoraയുടെ കണ്ണുകളിൽ ജർമ്മൻ പടയോടുള്ള അവന്റെ രോക്ഷം നമുക്ക് കാണാൻ സാധിക്കും. സ്ഥിരം കണ്ടുവരുന്ന യുദ്ധ സിനിമകളിൽ നിന്നും തികച്ചും വ്യത്യസ്തമായ ഒരു അനുഭവമായിരിക്കും ഈ സിനിമ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് നൽകാൻ പോകുന്നത്. ഇതുവരെ ഈ സിനിമ കാണാത്തവർ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ തീർച്ചയായും കാണാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുക. കണ്ടിരിക്കേണ്ട ഒരു മികച്ച സിനിമയാണ് Come and See.

Polis Evo Duology

Part one unfolds the story of two entirely different personalities paired up to solve a case of dragon myth and take down the drug load behind it. Meanwhile, the second part deals with a terrorist attack situation led by the Saif Hasyam who demands 200 hostages in exchange for his brother.
It follows the same principle of a buddy cop movie, one is a Good cop and the other is a Bad cop. The action scenes seem solid in both films. Part one tries everything like shooting, fighting, and a good car chase sequences. Unfortunately, Part two stays with more shooting and more killings. Shaheizy Sam & Zizan Razak deliver what they were supposed to do. Hand-held cameras are common in Malayasian action movies and Polis Evo also follows that trend. When it comes to box-office records, Both the parts managed to secure a position in the top 10 Highest-grossing local films in Malaysia. Overall, if you are looking for a good action movie to watch, consider Polis Evo duology as an option.

Nabat (2014) - 105 min

Nabat lost her son in the war and her husband is sick who cannot move from his bed. She needs to travel a lot to sell cow milk for a living and day by day her fellow villagers go missing or abandon their homes without telling anybody.
It's a rare art film from Azerbaijan with less talk more walking. Most of the time, we travel with Nabat to search for abandon houses and other places. The best thing about the film is the cinematography and few mind-blowing shots literally fascinate any cameraman. Veteran Iranian actress, Fatemah Motamed-Aria underplay Nabat character with ease and care. It was selected as the Azerbaijani entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards. Overall, Nabat tells the simple story of an elderly peasant woman who is not willing to leave her homeland at any cost and only recommending to drama lovers because it's a pure drama material subject.
Verdict: Good

Halima's Path (2012) - 97 min

Halima lost her husband and son because of the Bosnian War. With the help of the DNA sample, her husbands’ bones were identified. Halima is looking for the remains of her son and she is not willing to do the DNA test.
The story starts in 1977, fifteen years before the Bosnian War. After a few minutes, a message pops up saying Twenty-three years later while showing the aftermath of the War. It was selected as the Croatian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards and this is the third film of the director, Arsen Anton Ostojic that gets the opportunity to compete for Best Foreign Language Film category. Sadly, Croatia submitted more than 25 films for the Academy Award, none of them received a nomination. Overall, It tells the story of a grieving mother that communicates directly to receptive viewers and the story is inspired by the real-life story of Bosniak couple Zahida and Muharem Fazlić.
Verdict: Good

Sleepwalking Land (2007) - 97 min

Muidinga is searching for his family with the help of an Old man, Tuahir. They wander around the landscape of Mozambique with dead bodies all over the place. Muidinga finds a journal belonging to a dead man whose body was found nearby.
Based on Mia Couto’s 1992 novel, Sleepwalking Land follows the adventure story of 11-year-old Muidinga who is desperate to find his family. There are two narratives in the movie and a slight touch of fairy tale makes it a good African cinema to watch. This movie has won several awards and one among them is IFFK 2007 Award for the Best Film in competition. Even though the story revolves around a kid, there are few weird moments of teen sexuality which is not acceptable at all. Don't know why they include that scene in the movie, the rest of the film is good. Overall, It's an enjoyable(except that particular scene) movie that blends magical realism to narrate a realistic socio-political scenario in African countries.

The Third Half (2012) - 113 min

Set against the background of the Second World War, it's about the Macedonia Football Club, a team that struggles to win a game in the league of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The owner of the Club invites famous German footballer Spitz to coach his team.
The Third Half is based on the true story of a young girl from a rich Jewish family who fell in love with a poor Macedonian football player. Mitrevski, the director dedicate this movie to Neta Cohen and other survivours. The whole cast provides decent performances and Richard Sammel is remarkable as the coach of the team. The film was selected as the Macedonian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards and it also makes some controversy when three Bulgarian MEPs made an accusation that Macedonia is trying to promote their identity through fake notes. Overall, It's a likable sport-romance movie and loves the way it is presented.

ഒരുനാൾ താനും നല്ലൊരു സ്റ്റാൻഡ് അപ്പ് കൊമേഡിയൻ ആയിത്തീരുമെന്ന് സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടു നടക്കുന്ന ഒരു സാധു മനുഷ്യനാണ് ആർതർ. അയാളോട് സ്നേഹമുള്ളവരുടെ എണ്ണം നോക്കിയാൽ വിരലിൽ എണ്ണാവുന്നവർ മാത്രം അതിലൊരാൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അമ്മയാണ്. സമൂഹം പക്ഷേ അയാളെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കുകയും പരിഹസിക്കുകയും മാത്രമാണ് ചെയ്തിരുന്നത്. അങ്ങനെയുള്ള സമൂഹത്തിൽ ഏതൊരു വ്യക്തിയുടെ സ്വഭാവത്തിലും ചില മാറ്റങ്ങൾ വരാനിടയുണ്ട്. ആ മാറ്റങ്ങളാണ് ജോക്കർ എന്ന സിനിമ പ്രതിപാദിക്കുന്നത്.
വാക്കിൻ ഫീനിക്സ് ആണ് ജോക്കർ ആയി ഈ സിനിമയിൽവേഷമിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. ജോക്കർ എന്ന കോമിക് കഥാപാത്രം മറ്റുപല സിനിമകളിലും വന്നിട്ടുള്ളതാണ്. അതിൽ നിന്നും ഈ ചിത്രം എങ്ങനെയാണ് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി നിൽക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചാൽ ഉത്തരം വളരെ എളുപ്പമാണ്. മറ്റു സിനിമകളിൽ എല്ലാം തന്നെ ജോക്കറിനെ ഒരു വില്ലൻ കഥാപാത്രമായി ആദ്യമേ ചിത്രീകരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷേ ഇതിൽ ജോക്കർ ആയി തിരുവാനുള്ള സാഹചര്യം വ്യക്തമായി കാണിച്ചുതരുന്നുണ്ട് സംവിധായകൻ. 1976ൽ ഇറങ്ങിയ ടാക്സി ഡ്രൈവറും 1982ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ദ കിംഗ് ഓഫ് കോമഡിയിൽ നിന്നും ചെറുതായി പ്രചോദനം കൊണ്ടതായി തോന്നി ഈ വാക്കിൻ ഫീനിക്സ് ചിത്രം. ഈ സിനിമയെ കുറിച്ച് കുറെ വ്യാഖ്യാനങ്ങൾ കേട്ടു ഈ വർഷം ഇറങ്ങിയ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച ചിത്രമാണെന്നും, ജോക്കർ ഒരു മാസ്റ്റർപീസ് ആണെന്നും എല്ലാം അതിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടും ഇതിനോടൊന്നും യോജിക്കുന്നില്ലങ്കിലും വാക്കിൻ ഫീനിക്സ് മികച്ച നടനുള്ള ഓസ്കാർ നോമിനേഷൻ അർഹിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു കൊണ്ട് നിർത്തുന്നു.

Vinicio Cepeda accidentally hits a boy with his pickup and ends up in jail. He makes a deal with a reporter, Bonilla to boost his innocence and in exchange, Cepeda will disclose the details about a serial killer called "Beast of Babahoyo".
There’s a monster loose in Babahoya, Ecuador and children go missing. The movie is about the lengths to which someone will go to get the truth even though he intended to make fame or considered him as a hero. Many movies leave the portion to explain why serial killers doing this kind of stuff or the motivation behind their acts. Sadly, Cronicas also struggles with that portion of emptiness. John Leguizamo, the man who plays the role of Aurelio in John wick movie delivers a subtle performance in Cronicas. It was Ecuador's submission to the 77th Academy Awards for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Overall, It's a watchable thriller from Ecuador with no sudden twist or turns, still manages to give a thriller ambiance.

Animal Kingdom (2010) - 113 min

Joshua finds his mother died of an overdose and called his grandmother to come over. She invites Joshua to her home where his uncles live. The cops are looking for an opportunity to nail down his uncles.
Animal Kingdom is loosely inspired by the Walsh Street police murders in 1988 Writer-director David Michod makes the movie unpredictable from the start and never know what happens next. The casting looks rich, David Michod can do whatever he likes when he got guys like Joel Edgerton and Guy Pearce on board. You will hate some characters for sure, especially Ben Mendelsohn and Jacki Weaver's characters. Credit goes to them to fully immerse into their roles and Jacki Weaver was nominated for Best Supporting Actress category at the 83rd Academy Awards. Overall, This Australian gangster movie is an unsentimental crime movie to watch and more brutal than his 'The Rover' movie.

Dôlè (2000) - 79 min

Dôlè is a new lottery storm that makes people dream high. Mougler is a school kid who always spends his time with a gang. Mougler needs money to buy medicines for his sick mother and he is planning to do something big.
"There are two kinds of people in the world; those whose destiny is shaped by events and those who shape their own destiny."
Dôlè was the comeback Gabonese feature film after two decades of inactive filmmaking. The movie opens with a rapper swag which offers a nice intro to the story. Mougler resembles the ghetto youth that enters into the world of petty crimes. This movie is considered one of the best movies ever made in Gabon and director Imunga Ivanga beautifully describes the urban youth in their everyday lives. Imunga Ivanga has got the potential to make more good films. Overall, it's an engaging piece of work and worth a try if you like to watch a Gabonese film.

The Club (2015) - 98 min

Four retired priests live in a kind of open prison house and Sister Monica takes care of them. With the arrival of another priest, things start to change. A crisis counselor is sent by the Catholic Church to investigate the events happened in that club.
The club is a darkly twisted drama that often talks about abuse, rape, and all other horrific topics. it's a deeper look at the Catholic Church’s problems and the judging factor of the movie is the final act which is very good. Spotlight film also discusses the same Catholic priest issues. Meanwhile, Club unfolds the same Catholic issues through their conversations with each other and also confronting their past sins. It was selected as the Chilean entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards. Overall, it's a movie that asks so many questions about religion, atonement and every character in the film is written with so many details make it a good watch.
